What is the Price for Perfect Integrity?
When we get to really examining ourselves and our lives, what price have we placed on our integrity? Do we only tell the truth when there is no one to impress or to offend? Recently I was confronted by this issue and in all honesty learned from my own shortcoming, that this is an area I let slip; and as believers, we need to master in order to run the race layed out before us all the way.
What was my price you might ask? It was a monetary amount. I didn't lose anything by what I did and no one else did either, I just didn't exercize a mastery in the area of integrity. I decided as a matter of conscience and personal devotion that I wasn't going to slip in that area again.
It occurred to me while meditating, that Jesus held his integrity at the level of perfection for the sake of his earthly ministry. What kind of manifestations he ministered depended around the basis of true and uncompromised integrity. If he had spoken any misleading or slighted speech he would not have been able to finish the work on calvary or ressurect from death.
What does this mean to me? I can ascertain someone in the Bible that had a price on his integrity of monetary value: Judas Iscariot. Not only did that cost Jesus his life but it also cost Judas his. The difference between an exaggeration, a white lie, or a full blown lie doesn't exist. There is no difference in the eyes of God whether we embellish the truth or lie out right.
For the sake of my quality of life, and the satisfaction of finishing my course; I will be perfect when it comes to honoring the people who listen to my words at all times, and most importantly when I speak the truth about Jesus Christ.
